Skilling for sustainable livelihoods
The Madras Seva Sadan Centre for Community Empowerment in Tambaram is a vocational skilling hub aimed at bridging India’s widening skills gap. With a new 19,400 sq. ft. campus (Phase 1), the center will deliver structured, industry-relevant training for marginalized students.
Bridging the gap between education and employability both nationally and within Tamil Nadu.
Only 2.2% of individuals (aged 15–59) in India have received formal vocational training (PLFS 2022–23).
Nearly 50% of graduates are not job-ready due to a disconnect between academic curricula and industry expectations (Economic Survey 2023–24).
1 in 4 Class 12 graduates from Tamil Nadu’s government schools (2022–23) didn’t pursue college, signaling the need for vocational pathways.
Tamil Nadu will require >32.8 lakh skilled/semi-skilled workers across key sectors by 2030 (TN Skill Gap Report, NSDC).
